This use to be a healthy fuzzy ball of green star polyps... now its reduced to almost nothing. What happened? My water parameters are perfect and this happened overnight. I just added two snails and a fire shrimp, do you think they could have eaten my GSP? or what about my fish? Can they be culprits?

they have drawn in from something aggrevating them such as a snail or fire shrimp. if they came to clean them they retract, sometimes it can be days before they return. the only other thing is a Hiwiian Tang. i watched mine eat some one day, and it didnt seem to bother the Tang. though the stars didnrt grow back because he ate the purple part of the colony down to the rock.

Do you have a blenny? I had a bicolor blenny that completely ate an entire frag of green star polyp within a day of putting it in the tank. I was so angry about it and the fact he was also nipping at my encrusting sps that I returned him to the LFS for store credit. Tangs and other algae eating type fish could also mistake the stuff for algae and tear up a colony pretty fast. I really don't know about the shrimp since I've never had one, but I know that snails and crabs generally won't mess with them because I have both.

SAILFIN TANGS..........................IN FACT ANY TANG EXEPT MY BLONDE NASO..HAS EATEN SOME OF MY STAR POLYPS AT SOME TIME OR ANOTHER....I DON'T EVEN KEEP THEM IN THE BIG TANK ANYMORE....TO EXPENSIVE OF A TREAT FOR THEM....
