I have a new Green Star Polyp ( about a month old ) that has decided not open anymore . Maybe just a polyp here and there. Fish and other corals appear to be fine.

Any ideas what to look for ?

i went through the same thing , im not a pro but i change hights of the polyp . and moved it around till i found the best spot . when i did this i left it there for at least 7 - 10 days before moving it agian . now there doing great . and also i was also told about checking the iodine levels . havent did that yet though

Xeina is good . So are the zoos , mushrooms and ricordia mushrooms . One piece of Keyna Tree looks kind of funky .

Just a couple of days . Its open today . I also did a small water change today , but that was after it opened again.

Brent,
I have found this behavior to be not that uncommon for star polyps. I have seen my retract following a trampleing by a passing hermit crab, me go into panic that I did something wrong
(sound familiar) only to find them to return much more beautiful than before.
I can't explain it, but I've come to accept it.

Corals are all doing fine . But, my Black & White Heniochus passed away today . All other fish are fine .

I'm baffled .

water parameters would help. closing corals and dieing fish are not good signs. how long has the tank ben setup? what kind of lighting and flow do u have?

Tank has been set up about 20 months . Lighting is 2 x 175w MH and 2 x 40w Atinics. FLow is a combo between a Reefrunner2500 for a return from the sump through a squid and 2 x powerheads.

ive had gsp's close up for a whole month and then open up fully and spread like disease. Its weird. they can go into these "hibernating" periods. But especially after a big move or a tumble, they can stay closed for a really long time. give time and everything will be good as long as you're doing those magical water changes
