Green star polyp vs sps

So my tank is generally predominately SPS. However, i had a small rock that had some GSP on it. I have noticed that the GSP has grown over the rock and is starting to spread and rise to the top. All my SPS are on the top of the tank.. Should i eliminate the rock now, or not worry about it.

Or should i just prune it once it comes up near the top. Is pruning GSP pretty easy. Some suggest using a razor blade and just peeling it off. It actually looks nice growing on the bottom of the rocks for now. Since there is nothing down there.

thanks all.

I would eliminate... I made that mistake and yesterday I saw my turaki back side was dead from GSP rubbing against it. Now I am on a mission to remove all GSP.

I would let it grown to a point- decided were that line in the sand is and once it gets there I would start to cut it back- Gsp is a crowd favortie and it will kill sps if they rub each other per above -

Interesting, do you guys know if clove polyps would do the same thing if they come in contact with sps??

I get a flat razor blade and cut then peel- but I never 'save' it or try to sale it I just trash it -

Q yeah I don't have personal experience with said situation but every few things won't kill each other when they touch - escp different species

Clove polyps do not bother SPS IME....my tank is sort of overrun with them but they don't seem to bother other corals.

+1, my GSP don't sting or kill my SPS, but it is possible for the GSP to choke out the SPS by light deprivation or touch aggravation. I wouldn't worry about ridding your tank of GSP, just make sure you prune it when it gets too close. As someone mentioned, it's a simple razor blade cut and peel operation.
