Green Star Polyps question

HI there, ive had some GSP in my 12g nano for 3-4weeks now and everythings been great. the come out as soon as the light comes on and seem very healthy and colourful.

Today they cam out as usual but when i looked at my tank an hour or so ago they had all gone back in, which i thought was unusual. ive done all the water tests and everything seems fine, and they are very very slowly coming back out.

Any ideas what might have happened? ive seen my cleaner shrimp on the patch before and a few have gone back into hiding but not the whole lot!!

something may have ran over them making them hide once in awhile they will just hide and come out late.. just keep an eye on them.

Just make certain there is not constant irratation to them. I had a turbo that constantly ran over my GSP. A few weeks later, after removing the Turbo, the GSP opened again but they had lost the dark green color and had changed to a dull brown.

Everyone here kinda nailed it, they retract when ticked off, such as snails or hermits crawling across them. i have a colony that puts up with an urchin all day long and they still do just fine. Sometimes they take a little longer than other times to pop back out, but they always do. usually within an hour their back to themselves.

No show today, lights are on but nobody is home!! is it possible that there is something in the water that i am not testing for that could affect them??

About 5-6 weeks ago we had hi posphates and put some Rowa phos in, is it possible that the levels are high again and affecting the GSP?

Every once in a while my GSP retracts for 1-2 days, then it slowly comes out over the course of 1-3 days. I have no explanation for it, maybe it takes a vacation.

But I wouldn't worry, when I first freaked out about my GSP someone told me that if I killed it I'd be the first person to do so.

lol thanks dave, everythings been going so well, but the smallest things gets us worried!

We didnt figure out that hermit crabs molted, one day we tought the lil guy was dead, just about to fish him out and off he runs!! seems like we keet getting worried over nothing!

yeah GSP's do sometimes stay closed for a few days then they just open up again... mine does this every once in a while too
