pH 8.0 added pH 8.2 upper
Cal 480 ...little high would that do it?

plan to do a water change to lower that calcium...

only had them about a week...they opened about half way and I did a water change and ticked them off this was three days ago...so this is normal?

I have a nice colony of Green Star polyps that were doing great in the tank for a few months. All of a sudden, they closed up and wouldn't open for about 3 weeks. I thought they were goners. In a last ditch effort, I pulled them out and put them in my little 10 gal. QT. Within 2 days they were all open again and are doing great! I'm afraid to put them back in the display. There must be something in that tank that they just don't like.

Yeah, it's fairly normal for them to open/close randomly. If they get bugged or the lights go off they will close. Just give them some time to open back up.

As far as your calcium is concerned, it is a bit high but probably not detrimental. Either do a water change or let it fall on it's own. Your low pH is most likely due to high CO2 levels in your house. The use of pH buffer is not a good solution and can be quite detrimental to your system over time. There are much better means to keeping your alkalinity and calcium in balance. Here's a couple of good articles for you. ;)

I would try putting them somewhere where there is stronger flow. These guys like strong flow cuz it keeps detritus from getting cloged in em and chocking them.
