Green striped mushrooms shrinking

Ive had my 30 gallon tank for 5 years now, only stocked with a pair of clowns and some green striped mushrooms (that divide like crazy). I only changed the water once a month and i had no protein skimmer, just a H.O.B. filter and some PC lighting, maybe 40 watts total. About a month ago i decided to get serious about keeping corals and adding different kinds, so after doing some research i got rid of my HOB filter and bought a Refugium and some Cheato. I also bought a protein skimmer and upgraded to T5 lighting (total of 96 watts) and have been doing weekly water changes. Everything was going great for the first 2 weeks but now my Mushrooms are not expanding. Whats causing this???? I've already tried moving them to a darker location, that didnt work. No Ammonia, no Nitrites and about 10 Nitrates

Give them some time. It could have been light shock. T5's are much more powerful than PC. I got t5's in my tank and my shrooms are toward the bottom. my two cents.
