green stuff in my Xenia

i was doing some maintence to get ride of some red slime alge and I noticed that in my Xenia there is some green algae, it is about 1-2 inches long and thin. Should I pull that out there was a lot of red slim algae there, but it was just at the top of the green algae, or what ever that green stuff was.
