this toadstoole keeps moving on me, i got it on a shell, it moved, put it on a rock, moved again, now its somewhere in the tank Idk where. should I relocate him again? or let it do its thing and find a place to live
try placing it higher. The green ones seem to like more light than the regular ones and mine always tend to stretch towards the light if they're shadowed by something or too deep down.
A Toadstool moving around on its own so quickly it not normal. You should try and place the frag in a small pile of rubble in a very low flow area. Or use some lightweight plastic mesh and wrap the frag and a small piece of rubble in the mesh and rubber band it closed.
The frag will eventually attach itself to the rubble piece(s) and you can then epoxy or superglue the rubble anywhere you like.
Soft corals don't do well with attaching themselves by means other than natural ones.
A tank that size does present special needs in all areas. Sometimes letting the chips fall where they may may be just as well, as you yourself suggested. I can tell you the leather will not attach if it keeps moving around and unless you just leave it be, it will require some manipulation on your part to be sucessful.
