GreshamH rotigrow complete

To GreshamH or anyone else in the know. I'm posting here because I thought this question may be useful to others as well.

I was wondering if you could freeze rotifrow complete. Looking on your website it says its good for 4-6month refrigerated but it doesn't say anything about freezing. From my understanding rotigrow plus and rotigrow complete are pretty much the same other then rotigrow complete is not as concentrated and it includes cloram-x.

I just purchased the large 32oz bottle hopping I could freeze some and keep some in the fridge. If not I may have to sell some off to other local refers because I don't know if I can use that much that fast.

Thanks in advance.

Rotigrow plus you can freeze I don't think you can freeze the RG Complete but I could be wrong.

Their web page doesn't exactly say you CANT freeze it. It just says keep refrigerated. I guess my confusion come from the fact that they are pretty much the same thing except they added cloram-x. At least that's my understanding.

Either way I have a big bottle coming. I have been having a hard time keeping my rotifer count up, so I am hoping this will help.

We've had numerous customers report back on freezing it with out any issues, but we still have not run our own feed trials to check on the performance. We started to get then underway back in December, then we had some big aquaculture projects we had to run trials on and never got back to the RGComplete. I'll see about getting those trials restarted as they only need to run for a couple weeks total.

I froze some, thawed it and looked under the scope, it looked fine and when placed in ASW it broke apart as it should with no clumping or separation. Those are the real concerns.

For thawing, its best to do in the refrigerator, that is with any frozen algae actually. Quick thawing can lead to issues, like clumping and separation.

Thank you Gresham. So I guess the verdict is still out. I may freeze some anyway because I think I may have more then I can use in the next few months

Oh and Gresham (not sure if he will read this again or not but) I wanted to say thanks and a job well done on my shipment. It came in about 4hours ahead of schedule and arrived safely. I have to admit I was a little worried with the temperature being over 100today but by the time I opened the box it was still nice and cool. The package said Steve was the packer, give him a big thanks for me as well.
