i have some gray mystery crud thats just kinda invading my tank and i have no idea what it is. it builds up on the rocks and sand and just sits there being an eyesore. i've been told its sponge but that just seems absurd. idk if its build up bacteria, algae, or magical space dust from another dimension. but my tank is having algae problems and two corals have died in it for seemingly no reason. heres some tank specs:
30 gallon
15 est. lbs of live rock
1 damsel fish
1mystery coral
emperor 400 filter
no skimmer (yet)
plenty of live sand
2 compact flourescent lights (the white and the blue)
and of course yes im new to the hobby haha, i have roughly 3 months experience. i did read a book though!
