We are pleased to announce that Progressive reef www.progressivereef.com have agreed to run a group buy for the GHL ProfiLux doser systems, this includes slave units and also stand alones with the built in doser controllers.

So how does this work?.

if you wish to arrange a group buy for your club please contact us at sales@aqua-digital.com and we will register you with progressive reef.

Discounts as follows

3-9 dosers mix and match = 10%
10 + mix and match = 15%

Can you explain how this will work. For example Bulk reef supply group buy: everyone pays separate through their own account and each unit is individually shipped. You register for the group buy by submitting the email address (user account) for the members involved in the group buy. The discount lasts for one week, and starts on a date designated by the club with BRS approval.

You are pretty much spot on, however our dealers do normally like to ship to one location and then the overseeing club member hands out the booty

The reason for this is to make sure that there are enough people onboard to get the discount. If individuals order then there is a risk of course some not going through with it and an unfair discount being provided to those that did.

But if a club wishes it to be different we are happy to change with the tide. I just do not know how this could be managed in this way.

For now, the rules are as follows

1. Club member registers with us at sales@aqua-digital.com providing club name and the person who will be collecting funds and and Progressive reef shipping to. This also can be a store location.

2. The "group buy club official" will market the deal.

3. after set period collect funds and forward them to Progressive reef, they will then send the booty to this person.

This is how ALL group buys have been done in the past, but if a club can work out a way that a member will not go back on their intentions we would listen to any suggestion and work with what works best for you.

Thanks for the info, the reason I ask is that people are hesitant to hand over $500 to someone they don't know very well. And others will want to pay the overseeing club member by paypal (3% fee) because it isn't fair for the overseeing club member to handle checks.

Perhaps a good way to do it would be to request the estimated number of units up front from the club with a list of user accounts of those people who want to buy. Give the club a 5-7 day time frame for the club to buy. At the end of that 7 days, progressive could then ship out the units to make sure the quota for the units have been meet.

Perhaps start the pricing assuming 3-9 dosers will be purchased by the club. Once more have been purchased a refund could be given to make up for the increased discount. Of course if the quota of 3 hasn't been met the units will not be shipped until progressive receives the price difference.

I know this is more work for progressive, but it does make the group buy more attractive to the consumer.

I was going to try to start a group but Tucson has a very small reefing community and I think I'm the only one with a profilux. I was going to branch to Phoenix but plan A will be hard for me to work with in terms of getting money and distributing units.

So anyone out there who has a group please pm me because I would like to join.

I need to sort out the finer details but the basic plan is if you are commited then you will pay a non refundable deposit to Progressive reef.

All names will be published here so there is no accusation of not enough people.

if after a set period there are 3-9 people signed up they will get 10%

if after the set period there are more you will all get 15%

Shipping will be $24.00 and this will be the deposit.

I can confirm this all on Tuesday. But thats the plan

okay so jjk sent me this link (in Tucson) and I am interested but not patient. When do you anticipate shipping on this? I am also confused about how this is setup right now. You said no originally to sending the money to progressive and shipping them all over the country, has that changed?

1. A coupon will be set up on www.progressivereef.com for the cost of $24.00

2. Particpants purchase this coupon to register their intent, it is non refundable

3.When the group buy offer ends (7 days from this Friday) everyones name will be published here and the discount amount you will get will be shown.

4. A discount is applied to the coupon based on the amount of registered coupon purchasers.

5. You then can purchase whatever doser you want at the discount based on the amount of participants.

6.The coupon amount of $24 is your shipping cost so free shipping will be applied to the coupon also.

Group buy starts this Friday 9th April until one week later.

Note - Please do not leave it until last minute and then complain We had this when we did the upgrade kit discount. The cut off is 12noon PST (absolute no extension, even if the cat does get sick)
