Roost89...Have not ordered them yet either...just did a quick check at the website...4 buckets would be $141 total shipped or $35.25 each shipped...but it would be standard shipping and might take up to 7-10 days to come in.

Salty Critter has the "Instant Ocean" salt for around $38 for a 200g box (4 - 50g bags/ box) I have been using it...but thought I would try the "Reef Crystals" and start switching over to that ...

i googled your location and its a little far for me to drive to come and get it.

its about 50miles

i just got done using a 50g bag of it, aquatic tech sells the pailes for around $60.
anyone interested around the 44028 area?

*edit*

i just read you PM, yea when you come to strongsville that would work for me. i work in strngsville, night shift. but my weekdays are pretty booked unless you catch me at 11pm or 7am at work.
a weekend would be good.

im in for 2.

the 120 doesnt have to have water in it immediatly, as long as i get everything switched around this weekend.
id like to get the refractometer but i aint got the extra :(
its 30% off

roost89...not sure that the salt from fosters and smith would make it this weekend...probably by next weekend...think I will just get from Salty if they still have it.

I will call Salty today and see if they still have the 200g boxes...if they do and anyone wants some let me know...I will be stopping Friday on the way home from a business meeting in Sandusky to get myself some...I could meet everyone someplace...maybe Aquatic Tech or Hectors place...

I was at Salty Critter this weekend and they just got a big shipment of the 200 gal Instant Ocean in.

i wanna stick to reef crystals for my corals, so i dont have to dose anything
i guess ill just buy a bucket from aquatic tech.

You plan to maintain cal/alk in a 120 with nothing but water changes?

yea.....

i been doing a 5-10g wc every week on my 55 and everything has been good, and i thought 20g water changes would maintain a 120 also

so i take it dosing is needed on bigger tanks???

from Dr.com they have a red tag sale on reef crystals. $35 a bucket if i get 4 shipped.

shipping is within 7 days, im not shure how long it takes to get to ohio, never ordered from them.

if not ill just order 2 for myself this weekend.

I'm sure it can be done. I would think it would get costly as your tank matures, and cal/alk demand goes up.

If you plan to keep much coral I would just get familiar with 2 part dosing now. Even if you buy a reactor down the road adjustments will have to be made from time to time. Just my opinion.

i agree with scott, it will be extremely difficult to keep up the Ca and alk in the tank, not to mention you are going to need something to buffer pH and i at least recommend top off with kalk, on my 240G cube i am going to be doing constant water changes of about 1-3G per day and i bet the consumption of trace elements, Ca, alk, mag, and then the constant adjustment needed for pH, so i would recommend something with higher element concentrations at least...look into the Red Sea Coral pro salt to help you out a bit and then you might be able to do it but i recommend at least two part dosing with kalk in the top off

i stareted using the coral pro salt, it was the first stuff i bought.

my ph was 7.8
ca was around 380-400

with the reef crystals, my ph is 8.2
ca is 460

i keep using the reef crystals cuz it seems to have better numbers.
i got a jar of kalk with the 120g i bought, ill have to learn how to dose it.

on a 120 with a fuge, do you still reccomoned large water changes? or can it just be dosed?
