FWIW....the deal we got was $40/frag.....and we had 10 pieces bought...i.e. $400. I had to charge everyone $50/frag b/c shipping was almost an extra $100. Each of the 10 frags were at least A grade material, and 2 were ultras. the more frags we ordered the more ultras that were included. (i think it was like 1 ultra for every 5....but that ultra wasn't necessarily a rainbow). we only got 1 real ultra rainbow in our order...but it was large so i cut it in half...both halves had about 5 polyps.
Since we bought 10 frags for the group buy, and I bought 5 frags separately......my contact threw in several additional freebies...I think it was like 7, mix of A and B grade frags (B mostly). Then I looked over all the frags and realized a few pieces had more like 10-12 polyps...so I cut them in half so we had a total of 20 pieces...which gave people 2 frags for every 1 purchased.
The nice thing I liked about this, was every frag was different except for the ones I cut in half. And the ultra rainbow I was sent was actually a colony size...around 12 polyps, but I cut it in half so more than 1 person could get it.
IMO the B grade aussie acan frags are still better than virtually all of the indo acan morphs.
with some of those online stores....be careful when ordering a "colony". with acans, polyp size varies morph to morph...so in order to get an idea on size...you really gota look at the size of the egg crate squares behind the colony. some acans have HUGE polyps...and some have very small polyps the size of micros. its difficult to cut a colony that only measures 2-3inches across.
IMO......with a group buy getting lots of variety for people to chose over is way more exciting than only 2 colonies/morphs.
