I added a group (3) of yellow tangs to my 125 gal (6ft) fowlr (future reef) tank at the same time. A week into it one became really agressive towards the other two. 3 days after the aggression started I moved the agressive one into my 20 gal refugium. Should I try to reintroduce it later? The other two are getting along well. If so how long should I wait? Anyone with experience chime in. The only other fish is a blue hippo tang that is larger and an awesome fish.

you can try to separate them with some egg crate so that the one aggressive yellow tang is on one side and the other non aggressive tangs on the other side ..they could still see each other but cant fight.. this usually works very well,leave them separate for a week or so then remove the egg crate.. and see what happeneds..
I put the aggressive yellow tang back in and less than a minute it was worse than before. Even as I was trying to catch it it was still taking swipes at the other fish... unbelievable! I removed all three and selling on craigslist. I will add one yellow tang last and I mean last and only at the very end. Just wanted to share my failure. Maybe I could have tried harder but I wasn't up for it.

IMO, you were putting too many tangs (at least 4) in a tank that's too small for them. Cramped quarters = more aggression. YTs will usually do well in groups (assuming enough space), but seldom when there is just two. If you just kept two YTs, I wouldn't be confident of any long-term peace.
I agree with you but I wanted to see for myself... and I sure did... lol

This is a really tough hobby to NOT want to see for yourself. I wouldn't post a fraction of the things I've done, knew better; and, sure enough, they didn't work. But I don't like losing fish and always have a ''plan B". Sounds like you do too.
