The reds towards the bottom are pretty new and are coloring up real nice.....They didn't have the yellow in the tentacles when I got them...Never mind the algae I am starting to win that war.....:)

Thanks those are my True Alien eyes, they have taken on a bit of purple or darker blue since I got my new MH bulb......

Azurel,

Nice pick ups. What lighting are those alien eyes under? Man I have no success with those bad boys, they seem very sensitive to change. I've had atleast 3 different colonies from different places and still haven't been able to keep them thriving. We still need to set up that trade. So far my zoa colony has maintained its yellow color. I'm thinking about sending you a frag before it starts to morph if indeed that the colony isn't its true color.

love those alien eyes, their beautiful

is it common for zoas to morph? you said they morph color, what about their "fringe" growing or shrinking in length?

Hey Guys,

Sorry I haven't responded been busy with family.....

Limestro

They are under direct lighting of a 250 14k Hamilton SE supplimented with 2x 110w of super actinic. They are under high flow as well about 5 inches from the surface of the tank. The tank is a 40g long something like 18'' high. I have had issues with them myself and been through about 3 frags of these as well.

Since I got the new Bulb which they were under originally a 1 1/2 old MH bul same make and model. The purple/blue area around the mouth didn't show up till after the new bulb was placed and the tank was acclimated to the bulb........The skirts have always been that length and have not seen any differance in them at all...Here is a pic of the frag these came from....

As you can see the purple/blue wasn't there or there as dark....
