Happy New all!
I've only been kinda a lurker round here but since I have finally have my growout tanks up and running, I thought I would share, with pictures of course.

So this journey has been going on for over a year now. Ups and downs to the extreme. I mainly have been raising this batch since early August and they finally have made progress. I can't stress enough, food is key and some of my fry have suffered and just now are filling out. I have the typical setup with rots, phyto. BBS and then I went to crushed flake food, crushed spectrum pellets and cyclopeez. The flake/pellet combination didn't work for me. The fish were not growing. My success was using Rod's food and they have made a about face. Live and learn. I have lost countless batches of fry due to stress I believe. I have tried everything to get my clowns to lay on tile, but they will not have any part of it. So I have to get them out by hand, even though I made a snagger with the light and pump. It does work somewhat, but those crazy fish just don't bite the hook and follow thru, so I hunt with light and small cup.

Ok so here is the main grow out tank. it consists of 3 seperate tanks 12-15 gal. each. All connected with overflows thru the back and down underneath. I traded for this bad boy for a 30 headed acan I had, that needed a better tank to grow in. Thanks to BadGus from cmas, it was able to happen.

The three tanks, pen 1 has the smaller fish, 17 of them

pen 2 has 9 larger fish , almost the inch mark

pen 3 has nadda in it except the heater which I have to stow in the sump

The homemade sump. I just have live rock, skimmer, and a return pump. When I get a bigger bio-load, probably will run a little carbon in the from time to time.

Rots and phyto station. Kinda of funny trying to explain the labratory look to the comcast guy installing the cable.

The light is just a basic PC setup with 65W daylight and actinic bulbs. The third bay has little to no light and I may opt for a 70 HQI setup for maybe some coral or clam growouts

and finally the back of the tank to show how the bulkheads are mounted. I'm glad I made the trade because you don't find tanks like these often.

So now I can get my other tanks cleaned up, I have a batch of eggs I am bypassing since I don't have the fry tank up and perkin with rots. I am planning on using 2 more 10 gal. tanks added to the system for addtional grow outs. With this tank and the sump, I'm running about 40 gals total.
well thanks for the read and hopefully will have some more updates soon..
