Grow SPS and Zoo's in one frag tank

Persistant Perspective
My friend thought I should post this as he really liked the idea. I like to frag zoos and SPS but they are a pain to keep in one frag tank. Each takes up a portion of the floor area, the flow is different and the light should be different for the corals.

So I saw these things sitting in a pile at the office and thought I would give it a try.
Here they are, you have to imagine the corals as I didn't take a picture of that.

You put the SPS frag at the top of the PVC and grow zoos in the cups below. The SPS get more flow and light and the zoos can't grow all over the SPS, are shaded and you can keep the flow down. You get way more bang for the buck in a single frag tank. It does work better for the larger SPS frags, as the PVC can only be pushed together so close, about 3 1/4" center to center. For those who run there frag tanks via air lifts like me, the PVC can also be an air lift tube.

So how do you make it. The PVC is 3/4" cut to whatever length you wish. The black cups, they are the ends off the rolls of paper used by larger format printers. Places that print out blue prints have tons of these. I have one of these printers at my office, so that is where I get them, but most printer shops will throw these away. Now the hard part, you stick the PVC in the hole of the black end cap, and you are done.

Hope this helps someone setting up a frag tank. Next time I make the frag disks for the zoos, I will post how those are made, but rubble works pretty well, or anything else you can stick in there.
