If I was to place the frags on a flat rock or coral skeleton will they grow out flat? Just wondering\planning ahead for my aqua scape...

I've had both zoanthids and a favia grow like that. I'm not really sure about the acans though.

as far as i know, acans wont spread like that, they use calcium to build layers in their skeletons in order to grow and make new heads.

+1. Acans will do it too but they will typically take on a more "mounded" shape due to the size of the polyps and skeletal structure. Same thing typically happens with Favias as well.

They will follow the rock pattern but will have a little dome to them even on a perfectly flat rock.

I don't mine a little curve to them just don't want them (acans and favias) to grown in to a ball is all (at least not these)
