Growth on fish looks like bone tissue

Anyone ever seen this? This is a false perc (CB, TR) bought from a LFS. I mentioned it to the store owner last night and he showed me others with the same thing. He also said the person who raised these for him was stopping due to the number of issues like this.

Just wondering if it is a problem with inbreeding or something similar or if it is in fact a disease that could be treated.

Not the best image, but the best I could get of it. Its pretty white looking almost like calcium deposit or bone and continues to grow. About 2 mos ago it was just a small speck...

Froggy feet...good guess I think. Did a google search and Lymphocystis photos do look very similar.

Says its viral so when I get home Sunday night will try to get her into a QT tank and get some meds for viral to give her.

Suggestions on viral cures?

for suggested treatment...it was any medication for viral infections, it was not brand specific.

I did not get home until late and completely forgot about doing this. Will have to set up a QT and move the fish tonight.

I have never had any personal experience with this virus, I just saw a picture of it a few times when looking up a bloated belly in my Kole Tang. Keep us posted on how your treatment and QT'ing go.

There is no fish antiviral medication. Lymphocystis can't be treated directly; instead the best you can do it supportive care: good husbandry, clean water, good feeding, no overcrowding. There are some reports that beta-glucan is helpful. Given time and good husbandry the fish may recover from this just fine.

Actually today the item on the fish has completely disappeared literally overnight.

Was planning on capturing it tonight and putting in a QT however its 'chin' for lack of a better term is healed with no sign of the growth at all.
