Any idea why this tube like growth on a new Torch coral may be? Should it be removed?

Vermetid snail. If it's not bugging the coral or it can't be removed without possibly damaging the coral's flesh then leave it. If it's easy to remove or it's making the coral not open, crush it with pliers. They send out a mucus net or string (depending on species) to capture food and that can irritate corals but are otherwise harmless unless you get plague proportions of them.
