growth rate

I just bought my first coral today, tank is a 6-G nano cube, 24 Watt 50/50 lighting. Its a small small piece of zoos on a rock. Actually 2 pieces, one peice of rock about 1.5 inches has about 10 of them on it, and the other piece has about 3-4 peices on it.

I have them at the bottom of the tank, and they have been in there for about 2 hours and they are fully open.

My question is how fast do they grow? I have heard green star polyps grow real fast and I am wondering if they are about the same.

Thanks!

The link above is a good thread with loads of good information.

Without a doubt in my mind, zoa and paly growth is relative to the environment they are kept in. I posted some info on page 2 or 3, some agree and I'm sure some don't, but I have always followed those rules and my zoas grow like grass in the rain forest. I had to make many modification just to slow the growth to keep it manageable.

Place them, leave them, stabilize your parameters, medium high to high current, 0 Phosphates, strong light source ( PC's to MH ) if using MH, shoot for the highest PAR possible, a periodic feeding is fine but not totally necessary. It should be used as a secondary source of nutrition and not a primary. Zoas love nutrion rich water and I always add a few drops of Lugol's per week with close monitoring of my Iodine levels which should never exceed 0.06 NSW ( Natural Seawater ). Many corals can not tolerate iodine so be very caring and know exactly what you in your system. I also run carbon and keep any critters that may harass my zoas out of my tank. Hope this helps.

PS, I have rare zoas that grow just as fast if not faster than some of my more common zoas. I think it is important to ask as many reefers as possible who have great growth rates on what they do to reap such results.

I agree with Travis, GSP are like weeds, just give em some light and they'll grow.

Forgot to proof it, so here are the corrections, sorry.
