growth tip frags

do growth tips (white tips) make viable frags? (off a red planet in this case) All the polyps look very healthy, but the colour makes me fear for a lack of zoox

because everyone loves pictures. As you can see all the polyps are very healthy and extended, but since it was new growth the tissue is very pale

they're both mine. The picture is from my frag tank. The one on the left I bleached myself because of too much light and its recovering slowly in lower lighting now. The center framed one is a growth tip from a red planet, so its brand new growth and healthy, but has yet to get its color (the picture is off, the polyps are actually dark red). I'm just wondering if that's an acceptable fragging technique, since it doesnt really have much zooxanthele, I figure its survival chance is probably slimmer

The zooxanthellae will repopulate with time so long as the frag is healthy and the tank is where it needs to be. Give it time.

good healthy reef tank and make color come back but you will have the best results giving it something similar to what the mother colony has as far as light and flow if it is were you want it color wise.
