I just picked up a Gryphon band saw and want to change the copper blade it comes with. I was looking for with aftermarket blade that isn't going to cost me $70 from Gryphon. I know it uses the same blade from inland saw too.

Thanks
Sal

I use the Inland blades, but depending on the saw some of the newer Gryphon's no longer have the copper coated blade.

Sorry for hijacking the thread but it don't really want to start a new one for this question..

I've ordered a Gryphon and it will hopefully arrive sometime next week.
Since you seem to have experience with the saw organism I would like to know if there is anything I should know before I start fragging with it? Any helpful tips or tricks.
Also, is it true that it's almost impossible to cut your fingers with a diamond band saw? I'm kinda worried about that.

You can cut your finger alright. Don't even run your finger along the blade whilst not running to check the diamonds are not all worn away.

I have even cut a finger on the back of the blade.

When the blades snap if your hand is in the way i would expect you would be impaled.

I've never tried the hole touching the blade while it's in motion thing but I'm pretty sure it would eat whatever you put in front of it. I've accidentally hit it a few times and had nothing happen, but it was just an instant...

The best advice I can give on the saw is to push the coral slowly. If you try to cut it too fast you'll eat through the plastic "blade-serts" really quickly as well as the plastic wheels, and those wheels are a pain to replace. Other than that it's pretty bulletproof as long as it doesn't have the copper coated blade.

Yep, I use the kent blades from amazon for the gryphon, a lot cheaper. And they last just as long

As for fingers, I always toucf the blade. I can push on it fairly hard for 2-3 seconds and it never broke skin. I'm sure pushing as hard as you would a rock it will do damage, but more of a burn on its way through, its not gonna shred you up. I do it pretty much daily lol. What it will cut is your finger nail, that cuts grooves in there quick!
