Its been 2 months since i bought some gsp and it still hasent opened. It is still a nice purple colour but hasented opened or grown. Everything else is doing fine and parameters are fine and stable. Can you help?

Give us the run down on your water parameters.

Also, do you dose or use any additives? Are the Star Polyps near any other corals?

trite - 0ppm
trate - 0ppm
amm - 0ppm
PH - 8.1
I does calcium iodine and strontium/molydenum once per week and the gsp is not close to anything besides a tiny piece of xenia and some zoos. Also the coral gets very good water flow across it.

"I does calcium iodine and strontium/molydenum once per week"

From your rundown of parameters it sounds to me like you arent testing for the stuff that you are adding to the tank. If you dont have a strontium/molydenum test and KNEW you had a defiency, Why would you dose it? The same goes for anything you would dose to the tank. If you dont have a test kit and know there is something lacking, dont dose it. My guess is something is out of wack parameter wise within the aquarium. I would move the gsp down to the bottom of the tank, do some water changing and get some test kits for calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, iodine and anything else you might want to dose.

In my experience with 2 different varities of GSP is that they dont like full intense light and they dont appreciate super heavy flow. They do great for me in high light and moderate flow.

Could also be a case of too much Iodide, GSP's don't particularly care for it if the levels get too high.

Also, I'd second aquarius' suggestion to test for Iodide, and especially Alk and Calcium, in an established tank, these are two of the most important tests, as they get depleted fairly quickly with healthy coral growth.
