gsp and zoas: should i be afraid of my zoas?..

hi,

i saw the recent thread about mushrooms and zoas, so now i'm wondering about gsp and zoas on the same rock. can zoas hold their own against gsp (green star polyps)?.. i have some gsp that is starting to encrust much more quickly on a bottom rock (i was trying to keep the gsp isolated to a frag rock in the sand, but it was leaning on another bottom rock in my rockwork for the past couple months and the gsp quickly moved to the other rock).

i was wondering if zoas or any other corals can hold their own against gsp so i can keep them isolated to that rock corner, or should i fear for my zoas that are also on that rock?

The GSP will take over the zoos, I know from experience. I would just peel the mat back from the GSP and toss it or give it away.

thanks.. i'll start the process of trying to remove the gsp from the rock then.. is there any other kind of coral that can stop gsp from moving in on their territory?

I second what was said above as from personal experience I have learned gsp will overtake just about anything in a tank other than perhaps a yuma or anemone. Best of luck with keeping it controlled :)

Encrusting gorgonia will take over gsp. They basically look the same as gsp but not as colorful, and grow much quicker.

I've seen my encrusting gorgonia take over xenia, gsp, shrooms, and anything else in its way. A few weeks ago I spotted a few bubble algae that popped up, but the gorgonia just grew right over them.
