GSP and from what everyone has said they're practically indestructible.
I have taken over my son's tank while he's away on Army duty and I'm in trouble with his GSPs. When he set up his tank at my house four months ago there was a nice mat of them, with maybe 50 or so. They grew to over 100 and were doing really well. For no reason they started dying off, at first seemingly lifting themselves from the rock they have always been on, but now seeming to just shrink. I have had my water tested at my LFS and everything they tested was withing an acceptable range.
Since I got the tank (55 gal)I have added three snails, six small hermit crabs and a nice (but not very big) clump of xenia which died immediately except for a tiny piece which now has seven tiny "hands" and is about 1/2" tall. The tank also contains a yellow tang, one small damsel, one small blue and yellow angel fish, and a small orange with white spots wrasse, several red mushrooms, frog spawn, one leather(4" tall), and a small clump of something I can't identify no matter how hard I try. It's either red button polyps or red zoos.
I've done nocturnal observations (much to my husband's dismay) and have found nothing eating the GSP or disturbing them. I'm at my wits end with them and am just about ready to count them out. The clump is down to about 10. They just shrink daily. Is it too late for help?
