How many days in there?

What is temperature?

What were conditions where you got it?

If you've found a natural way to kill it, share the knowledge, cause this is a nuisance to a lot of us, lol.

Mine also closes regularly, and when it does I'm pretty sure it spreads lol.

I would probably get the salinity to 1024, but 1023 should be fine

If it's new in your tank, give it some time. It may be acclimating itself. Mine acted sad for about a week and now it's taking off like wildflower. I actually wish I didn't put it on the rock my husband wanted it on, it's beginning to take over the rock.

Any chance the brown stuff you saw come off of it could be cyanobacteria? I've had a mat of that cover my GSP once and kill it off. Google image search it, do you see that in your tank anywhere?

no cyanobacteria. for sure. diatoms is growing on sand but not alot. its part of a new tank from my understanding.

I am having a similar problem with my GSPs, except they've been in the tank for a few months. it seems 1 more disappears every day. Tried moving it into less current and light, no change. :(
