GSP Rock

I got this amazing piece of gsp that had covered a rock from a friend of mine. It is a really nice show piece you just have to keep it away from the other rocks. Well i had it in my pc tank but when i added an anemone i was afraid it would sting everything so i took all the coral out and put it in my mh tank. Long story short the gsp hasn't really come out and it has been over a month since i moved it. I had my water tested the other day and it was good i have the numbers at home and can add them later. Here are before and after from his tank to my tanks. Let me know what you all think. I might just move it back and hope the anemone doesn't decides it wants to move near the gsp....

not wanting to state the obvious, but.....that doesn't look very good. what exactly is the water qualty? if iot is good enough
to maintain anemone's and hard corals, i t should be ok, but cha never know.

GSP is pretty tough stuff, I would put it anywhere you want, an anemone will not put much of a dent on it. Just watch out it can take over.

looks like a change of light have cause them to close. try putting them in the shade and see if they open in the next few week or u can dip them.

Zilo-

In those 2 months before it opened up, did it lose any of its purple color?

Thanks

To the others- Is GSP sensitive to too much/little flow or too much/too little light?

GSP's need high water flow and high light levels to do well. Do you get enough flow at the bottom of the tank, stuck back in a corner? Try movining it up and pointing a powerhead at it.

They are sensitive to algae like diatoms growing on their mat as well. From the looks of the picture algae may be irritating it a bit.

I had a 2 week period where my DI resin was producing water with 2.5PPM and it was enough to cause a hair algae bloom, which surprisingly caused my GSP to close up for 5 weeks. I also lost my Flowerpot coral (.pora) and an anemone. All other parameters were fine, ph was a bit low. I would work on getting algae out of your tank.
