GSP Verses BTA

I have some Green Star Polyps creeping out from under the ledge that my BTA hides under.

The tentacles near the GSP are deformed and crooked.

Has anyone else seen this or similar instances of an anemone getting stung and losing the battle?


FWIW I have been trying to eradicate the GSP for some time now.

I have seen this with my BTA's and brown star polyps that took over the rock my anemone lives on. The star polyps were becoming like a weed in my tank, taking over every thing. I decided to remove the anemone from the rock and eliminate the star polyps from my tank. The BTA has since begun to recover its normal tentacles. This has taken about a month. On one section of the anemone in direct contact with the polyps the tentacles disappeared altogether. Fortunately they are about 1/2 an inch or more now in that section as they continue to return to normal.

I'm not 100% sure but from what I've read and noticed (I have a LOT of gsp) gsp's tentacles don't have stinging cells and if they do they are probably not that strong. I've had it grow next to mushrooms and not bother the mushrooms or xenia or zoos. My rock anemone kills gsp and so does my bta.

A healthy bta should be able to kill most corals, jme.

My H Crispa occasionally waves it's tentacles near a rock where the GPS's have taken over and the GSP's lose every time.
