I have gsp that open and then for a week stay closed up. Why?
Nitrates 20
alk 9
mag 1300
salinity 1.025
2 mp40w for flow
need new phosphate test kit
what affects gsp? never had this until last month or so

Do you have good flow over them, they like good flow? And, what kind of lighting are you using, and last time you replaced bulbs?

I run a 6 bulb tek t5. I replace 3 bulbs at a time every 6 months. There in medium flow

I had the same thing happen to me, then I found that my camelback shrimp decided that they liked to eat them. They never bothered anything else in the tank, but they chomped the GSP. I have another patch that they don't seem to bother. The shrimp are on the list of stuff that won't make it to the new tank. Till then, I stuck the remains of the GSP into my overflow box.
