I have two new pieces of gsp i bought and they are both have some very minimal polyp extension. In your experience do they take longer to acclimate ? I know my calcium is a little low i need to dose tonight. But everything else is fine. Kinda the same deal with some zoa colonis but most are fully open, just a few taking a little longer then i hoped. Should i worry?

My GSP will sometimes stay partially extended for periods of time and then extend to lengths like grass every once and a while. Not sure if that helps.

If you just bought them than they might take a while to become acclimated. Sometimes they take a little longer to open up. Or at least that has been my experience. Hope this helps.

Mine took a few days to open. Usually most of the corals I get open right away.

You don't have a thing to worry about. They can be closed for a few weeks at a time. Give them time and they will come out in no time.

alot of people like GSP because it can give you a good sign if your parameters are in check are not.


try testing your water before jumping the gun. if everything checks out ok, then just give it time.

IME, GSPs seem to just hang out for a while, even several months. Then one day, BAM, they take off growing like mad. Mine even faded out for a while, then recovered, and have been growing like weeds ever since.
