Cool. An aquarium related Rorshach test!

Looks like clear vinyl tubing with water running out. Perhaps, OMG, on the floor????

Did I get it right? What do I win? :)

So, John an Danny got the idea.

It is vinyl tubing with water coming out. The tube is underwater and mixing with other water. The reason for the swirls/turbulence in the outflow (for the geeky few...) is because water of different refractive indexes are co-mixing together. So optically, we see those as "swirls" because the different refractive index bends the light coming to our eyes.

In this case, the background we are seeing gets distorted.

As to why the water has different refractive indices, that is because I was adding saltwater to my RODI water.

SOOOO...
The reason for the post was to share some nerdy science stuff and to share the following:

I finally got around to setting up the garage propagation tank and getting it plumbed up and lit.

Filled up with about 90 gallons of water volume. Contemplating making both levels growout tanks. (lots of space!)

Oh, and Danny is right. It is an LED fixture I got for $80 (vs retail $250. Should do the job for growout. Plan is to complement with T5's.

(Hahahaha, I still have not built my display tank hybrid light setup).

Hahaha great post! I just got into contract yesterday for my new house. How much to rent out some space in one of those frag tanks;)

Colin,
Congrats! Is this the house you told me about?

It has a spare bedroom right? For a BIG tank? :)

And yes, you are welcome to use some space in the tank. I have to get my spare skimmer up and running first. Then it'll be "go time"! (or grow time in this case)

Ya, it's the one I was telling you about.

I've gotten the OK on using one of the spare rooms for a fish room. But the idea of moving my main tank is really scary.

Agreed with Dragonvale. Once you buy a house, you have to "stock" your house. Much more expensive than fishtank.

Oh, here goes a few thousand for a nice bed/frame/mattress.
Oh, here goes a few thousand for a nice coach.
Oh, here goes a few thousand for new refrigerator/stove/freezer/dishwasher.
Oh, here goes a few thousand for a washer and dryer.
...

Oh, did I also mention need for "man equipment"... like toolshed stuff. Pressure washers are awesome! Leave blower if you want.

Hire a landscaping/gardner if you don't want to maintain your outside greenery. (mostly depends on if you have trees that drop leaves year round).

NOT TRYING TO SCARE YOU... ^_^ Just it comes with territory of owning a house.

OH!, and remember the most important MAN thing (aside from fishtanks). A barbecue grill.

First Ron has a new kid, then Colin gets a new house. No pics!

What's wrong with you WC people!!! :) :)

Congrats, Colin.

Claim the fish room fast. Put a tank in there on your first day in the house! They have a way of being 'reassigned' if you don't act quick enough.

Haha thanks guys and it's def an exciting time.

@Grant-I'll try and get pics soon!

@Dragon-I just need to reign in my girlfriend on that one and convince her that everything doesn't need to be done at once lol!

@Zero-I have a lot of the furniture already and my parents recently moved and have some stuff that they want to get rid of. But I need to pick up a washer/dryer and fridge.

Oh I will have my fish room too;) I'm hoping to set up the tank I won at our swap for a frag tank and plumb it into my main system. Plus I have a few biocubes. The possibilities are endless haha!!!
