Gumdrop Coral Croucher Caracanthus maculatus

the coral croucher is actually a small, fairly cryptic scorpionfish that makes its home (as it common name suggests) within the branches of SPS coral. these fish suffer from any competition for food or boisterous tankmates, and optimally require at least a coral skeleton to hide in (where it will remain most of the time). IMHO, they really do best in a smaller species setup.

I had two in a 29g biocube and they never moved- at all. I HAD to spot feed them so they would eat. Cool fish but demanding.
