DISCLAIMER: Not my picture but figured you guys would get a kick out of it due to all the blue ring posts I see here!
OMG why would you do this? They had 3 of these for sale at my Not-So-L-FS. I asked the guy why they had them for sale and he was like oh, well, people buy them.
I mean it's just dumb. If I had a kid I'd rather have him smoke crack than have one of these as a pet.
you should never be a parent.
Their beak is so small - that the Octopus only represents a threat if it is allowed to get between your fingers or toes - anywhere that the "web" of skin is rather thin enough for it to bite.
Far less risk than crack, banker.
I remember hearing a story about this a little while back, I think it might be the same one that accompany these pictures. A photographer was out in the ocean doing snorkeling, found a blue ring, thought it was cute, and took it back to shore. One look and the locals started freaking out and finally convinced him to take it back to the ocean before anyone got hurt. He had no idea of the dangers of the octopus.
so when i get one i CAN teach it stuff and pet it
this forum is so full of it
why would you put anyone off trying to keep these amazing things
I don't have a reference but I thought their beaks could penetrate a snail/hermit crab shell so a calloused hand shouldn't pose a problem if it decided to bite.
Still - the potential must exist, just based on all of the concern?
