hey guys i have this hitchhiker off white fuzzy crab from what i can tell....bout 1 1/2 inches,i just took apart my tanks rock work looking for him and couldnt even spot him,ive seen him eat 2 snails and now tonight i saw one of my 2 hermits pulled out from his shell and dead,i suspect my hermit loss and my drop in snail population as beiing his fault, aside from having my lights off for a while and seeing if i can spot him,a trap or something, extra feeding to my tank? what, help before he really ****es me off

It would be difficult to identify without a picture, but there are several types of crabs that are bad for tanks and tend to depleat our clean up crews. I would assume this little bugger is a bad one based on the information you are presenting here. I would get rid of him if you can find him. I had one in my tank and took me about 2 months to catch him. I keep him in my sump, or you could just eleminate the critter.

Drop a smooth walled glass in your tank at night with a piece of krill or shrimp (I used a Mason jar). Lean it up against a piece of live rock and see what you have captured in the morning. I was surprised at how effective that was in getting a large zoa eating mitrax out of one of my tanks. I had every other crab in the tank in the glass, too;). That gives you another chance to get a better look at it and decide whether it's a good guy or bad guy.
