H.carpet prep

I have been wanting a carpet for a long time. I have finally built up the courage to to get one. I was wandering if some one could tell me the best way to prep my system for one. I have around 300 gallons of water in my system. Im running an octo 250 skimmer witch almost keeps my water cleaner than i would like(acans dont do waell but sps grows like weeds) Im running 2 vortecs and 2 tunze 1608( Ithink thats what they are called) and a dual calcium reactor and phos band and gfo. My main concern is my lights. I have 400 watt 20 k halides. Most people i read about have theirs under 250 wats. Im worried that the lighting is going to be to strong. my water stays at a constant temp of about 78 degrees. anything else I should do? and what should I do when i get the nem? acclimation wise? (how long? proper way to light acclimate them?)

IMO opinion one of the best things you can do is buy a healthy specimen. All that stuff sounds great but unless you get a healthy one your already behind the 8 ball.
(sorry I know that isn't of much help)

Does the "H" in your thread title mean that you are getting a Haddoni?

Do you have a sand bed? All of my haddonis prefer to have their foot in the sand, right at the sand/rock interface.

You might have to watch your flow -- Haddonis aren't fans of too much flow.

As for your lights, I would suggest putting 3 layers of window screening b/t the lights and the tank, and remove a layer each 5-7 days

yes i mean Haddoni I have a 6 go 7 inch sand bed. I have a 220 so i didnt like the fact of having to reach that far down in it. I was worried about the flow to. but the spot I have picked out has the flow going just over the surface of where the nem would be. but with the screen should I leave the lights off longer to? I keep my lights on 8 hours a day

Each time I have acclimated new haddonis to my lights I used the screening and kept my photo-period the same.
