H.Malu - tear in foot?

Silfer

Gonnae no dae that.
I have a Heteractus Malu (not crispa), it is attaching and detaching, had been for a few weeks now (it's attached more than not).

It has a small hole in the foot, the mesenteric filaments are coming out the bottom a tiny bit.

Can it recover or can I do anything for it to help it heal?

Thanks

It's had this hole for a couple weeks now. Just today put it in a tub with sand and holes in it, as it was hiding in the rocks and getting no light.

Params are all stable, i use balling lite with a dosing unit and have an auto top up to keep salinity stable etc.

Phos/nitrates really low due to algae turf scrubber.

It's hard to tell but I don't see anything wrong with the foot. Apparently what I suggested wasn't clear in your other thread.

Put it in a tub like this one. You can get these at a dollar store or Walmart.
Don't put more than 3/4" sand in the tub.

Get a piece of eggcrate to put over it and a rock to hold it down. This will keep the nem in there and force it to settle in. It may try to exit through the eggcrate holes. Let it.....amazingly it can work it's way through one of those squares in a hour or two. Once it's out just put it back in the tub again and re-do the process. You might have to move the tub to a new location. By it exiting the tub it's a clue it might not like the flow or light. It's more likely to move because it doesn't like the flow. Malu's don't like heavy flow.

Here's a few with the nem. The first is in a square tub and the second is in a rectangle tub like I posted above. Once it settles in the tub you can cut it down and bury it or just bury the whole tub in your bed and put a few rocks around it to look nice.

My tank is barebottom so I haven't set up a patch of sand for the nem, but it's been in those type tubs for 7 years and never moves. The tub gives you the ability to move it new more desirable location.

I had the same problems you are experiencing until I came up with this idea.
