Haddoni & BTA - same tank?

Shu tin,
Your system is massive and thats what it did. I wish i never sold my mertenssi. Got any?

Personally in small tanks i dont reccomend mixing carpets especially haddonis. There is not enough water in the tank to keep them from eventually engaging in warefare.

No, sorry.

Just an update, had this blue gig for 4 weeks today, it's doing great, opened bigger than when I first got it, mouth tightly shut all the time, never seen it deflate once.

Feed it some krill once or twice a week and dose kent iodine daily. No skimmer, it's in a 3ft tank directly under a 150w 20k bulb which i'm going to change to 14k soon as although it's doing great it isn't colouring up as quickly as i'd hoped.. still only the tips that are a nice dark blue, the rest of the tentacles are a dark tan colour.

This is the best pic I can get as after a week I moved the flow and it went round the back.. as basically in the middle of the tank I have a sort of rock bridge and it's round there. Still gets full light. If I were to turn the tank around it'd be on perfect display.

Here is a tiny part of it that's visible, shows the tentacle colour atleast (i'm not going to try move it, if it's happy there then so be it. It's also in a tank with my 2 smallish green BTA's):

Would love to hear your thoughts on it, never owned a Gigantea before. Is 4 weeks a very good sign or still early days for this species?

Little update, still have this Gigantea anemone, it's going strong (had her for 9 weeks now).. my only concern is it's body is not colouring up, it's still tan with blue tips, maybe my lighting? Cheap eBay 14k 150w bulb.. been meaning to get a decent brand but money is tight.

I know you have a gig. but... I have a haddoni and RBTA and the haddoni is not doing well. The bta is established and the haddoni is a new addition. Not sure why but I had a BTA and a LTA with no problems for over a year.

Check out the "blue Haddoni" thread, "125mph's" Haddoni was looking terrible (( just received it )), he took out the BTA and it started to settle in. That is very similar to what I experienced 4-5 years ago, and why I suggest not mixing S. Haddoni with other species.

Wee update, had this Gig for 3.5 months now, doing really well. It survived 5 days without light due to my halides blowing and didn't lose colour or shrink etc.. seems like a very hardy speciman. Got her on eBay too.

I thought they were meant to be super hard to keep, it's in a 3ft tank under 1 x 150w MH 20k.
