Haddoni or Gigantea?

My LFS just got this in and the pictures are after it had just adjusted to the tank. Though the mouth is a bit open in the pictures below, it has closed ever since.

The foot: Light yellow in color with no visible markings.

Underside: No dotted markings.

Mouth: Yellowish in color.

Tentacles: Longish (average length abt 8 mm each).

Please id this fella!

I'm going to say haddoni. I have one that is very similar to yours and I know mine is a haddoni.

Apart from their care, is keeping a haddoni more dangerous for fish in the tank? That is is a haddoni a more notorious fish eater than a gigantea?

They are known to be fish eaters. Though I have only lost 2 fish to mine Haddonis over 9+ years of keeping them. The two fish were a yellow watchman goby and a mandarin.

Ok. Does this specimen look to be in good shape?

Looks okay, would like to see the mouth closed more (( but you said that it is closed now )). It looks like there was/is a small bit of damage to part of the edge of the oral disc, but nothing too major.

How long has it been at the LFS?

It's been there for about 30 hours now. It may not be visible in the pictures but the tentacles are orange with blue just at the tips...Is this a sign of bleaching?

If the LFS will hold it ( even with a deposit ) I would try that, just too see what happens (( assuming that it is a decent LFS )).

Might be a very slight sign of bleaching, but think it is more from shipping stress.

When I first got my blue one ( about 2 years ago ) its color was similar to that one.

Mine has managed to eat almost every fish I have had. It has an expensive appetite. Been thru 3 anthias, powder brown tang, naso tang, yellow tang, and some green chromis. I have even seen the maroon clown entice fish toward it. Have been fishless for a long time (except for clown). Considering ousting the anemone so that I can keep some fish.

It really depends on what fish you want to buy. imo I think some fishes are more prone to "fall" into the carpet than others. An example is two dragonfish pipefishes that I got. THey pretty much got eaten the first couple days of being in there. However my tang and blenny so far has not, and i've had the tang for half a year now. Go figure.

Thank You all for the responses.... . It really helped me make my decision faster.

My first concern was whether its a gigantea...I am not so inclined to keep a haddoni because I can't trust my precious ocellaris clowns with it. Given a choice between food and my clowns, i'd choose the clowns...

After this carpet was made out to be a haddoni, I don't think i'll go for it. A gigantea was a natural host for my clowns. I do know that the gigantea is one of the most difficult anemones to keep. But I have a mature 90g with strong lighting [almost 8 wpg] and strong current. [40 x if needed] for it. Thats the reason I was keen to get it. Currently this is home to 3 occy [i female and 2 juvi] and I have another 20g setup also running into almost 1 yr now in case they form pairs and the fighting begins.

I was partially swayed by Todd's advice since he has lost like a couple of fish in 9 years. But Todd is an expert and I can barely call myself a noob. Also many others have lost tonnes of fish to carpets so I think this one is best left at the lfs since I absolutely don't want to risk my clowns.
