Hair Algae (Derbesia)

I have a developing hair algae problem and would like to extinguish it as quickly as possible. The hair algae is the Derbesia species (not the typical bryosis). Does anyone know of any fancy tricks to get rid of Derbesia-- besides of course lowering Nitrates, hand removing, shortening the photoperiod, and frequent water changes? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the absence of a picture...the camera->computer cord is missing.

mmm. Firts of all you need to locade the reazon for your problem. Is overfeed? to much light / hour? have you test for Phosphates your water before you add it to the sistem? how long has been your sistem running?' could just be a part of the cicle.

Im asking you that becouse you will never get ridth of the algae if you dont find the sourse of what is causing it.

You can set up a refugium to export nutrients buy one or DIY

My best shoot is a convine of:
-Cut your light hours
-Weekly 10% water change ( I will say the most important)
- feeding 2 times a day isted of 3 as all food lavels say and in small portion at the time untill see the fish dont longer what the food.

I hope this info may help you.
