Hair algae on a leather

Hello, I have a leather that has hair algae growing on its stalk. What do you suggest I do to remove it? Should I just take the rock that it grows on out and pull the algae off? Should I shave it?

just pull it off. Mushroom leathers aren't picky about people touching them. shaving could easily lead to cutting up the stalk, which also probably wouldn't kill the coral, but it would look bad for a few weeks while it regrew.

Get yourself a brush... it will make life easy (just a little paint brush will do the trick). You may need more flow in that area to prevent it from coming back.
