Hair Algae on Crocea

I picked up a Crocea from a local reefer getting out of the hobby today. The mantle is however covered in hair algae but it otherwise looks very healthy. It is acclimating now, any suggestions on how to clean it off? Should I bother cleaning it off? The water conditions in my tank are near perfect and I have no algae issues. Should I just put it in and wait for the hairy algae to die?

I'd love to see a pic, I've never seen it grow on the mantle before. i wouldn't bother trying to clean it off, just let it fade on its own.

you can take a toothbrush and remove any algae on the shell, I've never seen anything sting a clam and damage it.

ive seen many things sting and kill clams. anemones, some mushrooms and some LPS will easily kill clams. 30 years ?

Yes, unfortunately not nearly as long as you've been the smartarse you're doing your best to be with several of your posts. i had a Derasa thats mantel touched a haddoni for several months, and was eventually completely covered with majano, neither of which stung or killed it. any other Mr Smarty comments???

you can post all the 'Oh my clam was stung' links you'd like to, yes things can touch the mantel and cause the clam to retract, it's their instinct to do that, it's an aggravation (much like your consistent smart alec comments the last two days) nothing more, it isn't stinging it and causing tissue damage.

EDIT:

took some digging through old pics to find one........i think we can all agree majano have a heck of a sting, this pic shows them covering the side of a Derasa, the snail has the mantle retracted so you can see the clean white where the mantle was kept extended and covering it and it was in contact with the majano yet there is no tissue damage from their sting......

i think the problem is that the people / scientist doing research / posting for all these books and papers haven't had a chance to check with jetcat before they publish.....

for those of you actually interested i have to agree with mbbuna. while clams can be somewhat resistant to stings from coral / nems / etc , they are by no mean impervious and care should be taken to protect your clams.

before you start, yes i have actually seen my crocea getting stung and the damage done by one of my anemones.

Whoa I leave for a day and everything falls apart :) I got 2 pictures.... my photography skills suck and my GF isn't around so here they are:

In the first one at the very tip of the arrow is the Mushroom. I couldn't get the clam to cooperate you can only really see it when the clam is closed. You can see a tiny bit of red, thats where it is. You can also see the hair algae all over the places. I'm just not sure if I should do anything or just leave it be.
