Hair Algae problem

i dumped mine in by 1/3 actually, do it every hour if you like. i had to put mine in display cause i only have a hang on fuge otherwise i would have added to sump. I rely on the 3 main types of filtration for a reef tank protein skimmer, live rock and live sand.

Great...I am going to dump into the refugium

Thanks for all the help and I will let you know how it goes...Also, ordered some chaeto today.

Will this do anything to my caulurpa?

Sorry for all the questions

I was curious about this product so I read the product data sheet on their site. It is moistly bacteria which should compete with the filamentous algae for nutrients. Sort of a bacterial scrubber. The bacteria are then probably more easily removed by the skimmer than the dissoved organics they take up would be ,so I woud think heavy skimming along with it would be a must. I would also surmise that these bacteria will use significant amounts of oxygen especially when they inevitably crash so good airation via skimmer or other means would be necessary.
This same effect can be acheived with macroalgae or by dosing a carbon source such as sugar orvodka to enhance bacterial growth in the system.

I purchased the SAT from Clayton but have not used it yet. I added quite a bit of Chaeto on Friday and that really seems to be doing the trick. That along with my new tangs and lawnmower blenny. I might add some SAT shortly to help clear the remaining algae out.

How much does it cost ?

Looking for answers to my 12g. Nano. Thinking of taking it apart and starting over with the same tank. I think it would be fun. Everyone always told me this tank would eventually up and be impossible to take care of.

Hair algae for months with no luck. I have removed the rocks and scrubbed them twice. Algae is back. The sand has a layer of crap in it that I think i causing the issues. I'm scared to test the params. The clown fish is going strong though.

i'm breaking down my nano, already moved rock out but a couple of pieces, 32 ounce bottle treats 320 gallons and is 24.99 at aquatic treasure in fairview heights.

125 gallon is algae free after six weeks of treating, just got home from working midnights so i will post pics later.

I might have to try this after the closed loop rebuild next weekend... I have had algae in this tank since day one. Bad water from the LFS and cheap bulbs...
