My understanding is that a skimmer removes docs and proteins from the water. However I am not sure if these are required for hair algae growth. Only thing I can think of is phosphate. Is it possible to grow hair algae and run a skimmer at the same time? I really need some hair algae in my tank for my fish to breed!
If I'm not wrong hair algae also require CO2, and is that removed by the skimmer too?
