I'm a little confused by the hair algae in my tank. The tank is a 75g RR. It has 6 juvi H. Erectus seahorses in it from Draco Marine. The entire bottom of the tank and LR is covered in prolifera, razor caulerpa, and feather caulerpa. I have been noticing HA is growing on the Macros!! What is going on? I thought if you had LOTS of "good macros" in the tank they would stop the HA? There is a 20g sump with a ASM G3 skimmer and the return pump is a mag 9.5. There is a pretty high water flow for seahorses in this tank. I use a feeding station and for cleaners I have 100 nass. snails, 30 micro blue leg hermits, and 2 huge peppermint shrimp. There is only about 40 lbs LR in this tank as I wanted it more of a macro lagoon for the seahorses. I do NOT have any macros or LR in the sump. It's too small with the skimmer in there. I planned on adding a 30g (36" long) sump but it I can't get it under the stand. It's too long. I'm afraid to take the center brace out of the stand to slide the sump in.
If I can figure out how to get the new sump under the tank, the new sump has a section for the chaeto and LR rubble.
Any suggestions? I have been removing the prolifera that has the HA on it to stop it from spreading, but It's not working.
