Hair Algae

Man this really sucks. I brushed every rock in my bathtub with a toothbrush as well as all the powerheads and my return spout and everything even the snails.:eek1: I put the rock back in the tank and there is very little hair algae left on all the rocks. I got 99.9% of it out. I know that now I have to get the spores out. I need a UV light. Any other ideas? What kind of UV do I need. Does anyone have one I can borrow?

Better option would be to do a large water change (to pull out spores and such) and then check/reduce/remove your phosphates and nutrients. Get some phosphate remover media working ASAP and be sure your skimmer is clean and functioning.

You've already done the best you could at manual removal, so now it's down to water chemisty. Your tank line shows a refugium on the system - do you run this 24/7? Some fast growing chaeto will out absorb the hair algae when it comes to low nutrient/phosphate levels, especially (IMO) if it is also provided more light than the HA.
