TDS meters can be very cheap to buy just so you know and buying a bottle of distilled water is a easy cross reference for calibration of zero. Knowing what your tds in your water is , is important and I highly doubt it zero. Ive never heard of that but if it is sent me water because mine takes lots of effort and money to get to zero.
Also the LFS saying perfect for aquariums yes but Reef Aquarium ????Do they specialize in reef..They may have good intentions, but many LFS don't have a clue

Thats not true. Your TDS should be 0 to start, but doesnt have to be. People dont even replace their RODI units until it gets over 3 TDS.

You cant test one source and expect proper reading.Like tap water ,phosphates and nitrates will build over time.Months or yrs depending on source and then the last thing you sus[ect is the source.This is a big fail factor.Its all about control and being able to rule out water source would really help.
