hair algea

This turned my zoas into bubble wrap. I tried this earlier today, and as I was walking the zoa rock back to the tank, I heard a popping sound and looked down to see some of my zoas full of air bubbles, one so bad that it exploded. Obviously the h2o2 made its way into some of the polyps and filled them with gas. I am hoping they survive it. Neither of us are too thrilled.

I have about 60 different types of polyps and have done this over 100 times with nothing but complete sucsess. You are the first of the many people that I have seen to have tried this and have issues. There is alot of info on this all over reef central. Your polyps didn't die and you have not posted any pictures suggesting it did not work. I havnt once seen it not work. My guess is that you didn't follow my instructions correctly. IME it has never harmed my polyps even a little. Your polyps are alive and the algae is gone. What is there to complain about??

Just decided to try this on one of my pieces of LR i will report how it goes tomorrow. Like others have said nothing really survives this but the zoas. They start to open back up right after they got put in the tank. The HA was really suffocating them on this piece of rock so i decided to try this method. I was not able to really soak the rock in water because my tub was not big enough. But i did continue to use the turkey baster to soak the rock for 6 or 7 minutes then gave it a through wash with RO water hopefully this was enough. I will try again when i get more peroxide and a bigger tub haha but ill report tomorrow!
