i have just started to notice the hair algea begining to grow in my nano cube, nothing has changed as far as the water or salt that i use, is there some fish, crab that can combat this. I am assuming it is hair algea little green hairs all over rocks and that mat of GSP that still hasnt opened. The light is only 1 month old, and i have replaced the sponge in the pack with poly fill but change it out every oter day.

Emeralds are supposed to eat Bubble Algae although mine never touches the stuff. I have had Turbo and Tiger Turbo snails eat it. Hair Algae that is.

Rainford goby eats it. But you should probably focus more on actually fixing the source of the problem, which is high nutrients.

I agree with hagfish. I had gotten some rock from another persons tank who had a bit on their rock even after scrubbing.

Turbo snails would work but are large and can knock corals over. I had some green hair algae and I picked up about 25 Astreia Snails. They got the rock spotless in days! Plus they are much smaller which would probably be a good thing considering it is a nano cube. Look around at the LFS's. They all have them but some of them have them much less expensive. You can find them for $.80 a piece. You're talking a few bucks!

If possible, you might want to limit your lighting for a bit until it's taken care of also

How long has the tank been up? If it's been up for less than 6 motnhs then it's just a stage. Mine just recently all went away.

I do have one turbo snail that's a little larger than a golf ball! It's a beast, it'll eat anything I think. I don't know if he ate it all or what, but it's gone now. Also, queen conchs eat hair algae......or so I hear. I did see one of mine poking his snout at it the other day though.

the tank has been set up since last x mas. I have 1 turbo sanil, 3 cerith snails, 5 bumble bees, 1 scarlet reef, and 2 blue leg hermit crabs. i have had several astrea's since the tank has been set up and they all die, either the hermit crabs eat them, or the fall off and cant turn themselves over, or at 1 time the tank was running warm 83-84 degrees, but all the other snails lived through the temp problems.

I have a bunch of astreas and I just place them on the rock I want them to eat and let them go. The bumble bees won't eat green algae

No problem. Good luck. Depending on what you have in there, you might also want to try to limit your lighting as much as possible till it gets cleared up.
