Hairy Mushroom, few questions.

I just picked up a hairy mushroom from a fellow reefer in the area. He was actually supposed to only give me some Xenia, but I was lucky enough to get a Hairy Mushroom from him as well. It's been in the tank for 3 days now and looks great! I was going to take a picture or two and post them here but I left the camera at the g/f's so that's going to have to wait.

So my questions, because I wasn't prepaired to get this and dont know the care requirements 100%, does anyone feed them, and if so, what? I've read that they mostly only require light, but can be fed. Just wondering what others with experience think about this? Also, the last owner said he added Iodine once a week. I dont add anything to my tank currently(first corals) in the way of additives, but should I? Would adding Iodine be benefical to them more so then my 72w of PC lighting?

Thanks,
Matt

I think If your keeping a nano and doing regular water changes as u should be you'll do fine keeping shrooms in general.

Don't know who will agree but I don't feed mine very often at all. I have in the past directed a little bit of frozen formula one or sinking pellets into/onto them with a turkey baster. Only when i notice them closing rapidly as if trying to capture a meal.

<~~~~thats a green hairy or frilly shroom in a seven gallon minibow under 32watt pc that I have had for a couple of years in my avatar.

Its requirements are pretty much the same as xenia. If i have a leftover piece of food from feeding my fish\other corals the mushrooms get it.. they can get pretty large indeed, too :)

Thanks for the replies. I wont feed them specifically, but if I have any left over I might give it a try.

If yours are anything like mine, put them in a place with plenty of room to grow. I've had to cut mine off a rock twice because it was growing over my clam. Since I can't get all the mushroom, it keeps growing back.
